Ann Florini is Visiting Professor and Director of the Centre on Asia and Globalization at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. She is also Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Studies Program at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. She is internationally recognized as an authority on new approaches to global governance, focusing on the roles of civil society and the private sector in addressing global issues. Currently, she is examining governance in the energy sector. Her publications include The Right to Know: Transparency for an Open World (Columbia University Press, May 2007); The Coming Democracy: New Rules for Running a New World (Island Press, 2003/Brookings Press 2005); and The Third Force: The Rise of Transnational Civil Society (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace/Japan Center for International Exchange, 2000). Dr. Florini received her Ph.D. in political science from UCLA and a Master's in Public Affairs from Princeton University.

Toby Carroll Research Fellow

Dr. Toby Carroll is a Research Fellow at the Centre on Asia and Globalisation at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. He earned his doctorate in politics from Murdoch University in Western Australia, where he was based at the Asia Research Centre. His research interests include the political economy of development and the politics of energy in Southeast Asia. He has published academic articles in the Australian Journal of International Affairs and the Journal of Contemporary Asia and opinion pieces in newspapers in Australia, Singapore and Thailand.

Tess del Rosario Senior Research Fellow

Tess del Rosario’s research interests are in the broad areas of regional cooperation and global governance, labor and migration with focus on labor governance and social protection, and civil society-state relations. She has extensive experience in capacity development and has undertaken consultancy assignments for various multilateral organizations, among them, the ADB, the WB and the UN-ILO. She was formerly Associate Professor and Associate Dean at the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines, and Visiting Professor and Acting Dean at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand.

Sung Lee Project Manager

Sung Lee is an experienced administrator and media publisher. He has worked for
prominent think-tanks in Australia namely The Asia-Australia
Institute where he was the Director and The Lowy Institute for International
Policy where he led its APEC Think Tank program. Sung also managed the
International Advancement program for UNSW in Asia. In 2001, Sung co-founded The Diplomat magazine and successfully led the establishment and growth of the magazine as Australia's premier independent
newsstand title on international politics and business.

Melissa Ong Research Fellow

Melissa Ong heads the corporate social responsibility programme at the Centre on Asia and Globalisation. She has extensive experience in the humanitarian sector and international development work. She has worked with organisations such as the International Rescue Committee, the Crisis Management Initiative, and the United Nations. Melissa holds a Masters from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a BA from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Yanchun Ong Research Assistant

Yanchun worked as a researcher with the Singapore History Consultants and the Changi Museum previously. She was an administrative and research assistant with the Embassy of Japan prior to joining the CAG. She is currently pursuing her masters in Southeast Asian Studies, NUS.

Benjamin Sovacool Research Fellow

Dr. Benjamin K. Sovacool, a Research Fellow in the Energy Governance Program at the Centre, is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in Blacksburg, VA, where he has taught for the Government and International Affairs Program and the Department of History. He has also worked closely with the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Electric Power Networks Efficiency and Security Program, Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and U.S. Department of Energy’s Climate Change Technology Program.

Yeling Tan Research Fellow

Yeling has 4 of years of experience in international security policy at the Ministry of Defence’s Policy Office in Singapore, working under a government scholarship. She first served as a staffer on the Indonesia Desk, and later as Head of the U.S. Desk. She was awarded the Tom Ford Fellowship and worked on economic development and governance issues at The Asia Foundation, which included field attachments in Indonesia and Bangladesh.
