As the first Dean of the new Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), I am pleased to welcome you to our website. I hope you will visit us regularly and review our progress as we strive to develop a premier School of Public Policy perceived as a centre of excellence for academic study and research in the areas of public policy and public management.
Although the School was formally launched in 2004, it has inherited a rich legacy left by its predecessor Public Policy Programme, which was set up in 1992 and developed in partnership with the John F Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. To this day the school continues to maintain a strong partnership with the Kennedy School.
Currently, the School confers three Master degrees: Master in Public Policy; Master in Public Administration: and Master in Public Management.
While the curricula of the three degree programmes are similar to those offered in other leading schools of public policy around the world, they are also outstanding for their emphasis on the public policy experiences of Asian countries and the critical challenges facing them. The School also offers a diverse slate of high quality executive programmes to meet the specialised educational and training needs of senior executives.
Among the many strengths of the School is a diverse faculty drawn from all over the world. An equally diverse student population from all over Asia and beyond provides a rich and lively learning environment inside and outside the classroom, as well as opportunities for forming lasting international friendships. The School also enjoys the support of alumni in over 27 countries. It has established a respected track record in providing a first-rate public policy education and access to the public policy experiences of Singapore and Asia.
We at the School are excited by the opportunities that lie ahead. We are convinced that this new School can make an important contribution to the development of our region. We welcome suggestions from our website visitors.
