Synopsis:
The Seventh Japan-Singapore Symposium (JSS) was held in Tokyo from 23 to 24 February 2009 and was co-organised by the Japan Forum for International Relations (JFIR) and IPS. JSS was launched in 1994 by then Prime Minister of Japan, Mr Murayama Tomiichi and former Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong. The meeting has been held biennially since 1995. JSS provides representatives of different sectors from the two countries with an opportunity to exchange views on issues of mutual interest, and help foster closer ties between the two countries.
