IPS Internship Programme About IPS The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) was established in 1988 to promote a greater awareness of policy issues and good governance. Today, IPS is a think-tank within the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore. It seeks to cultivate clarity of thought, forward thinking and a big-picture perspective on issues of critical national interest through strategic deliberation and research. It adopts a multi-disciplinary approach in its analysis and takes the long-term view. It studies the attitudes and aspirations of Singaporeans which have an impact on policy development and the relevant areas of diplomacy and international affairs. The Institute bridges and engages the diverse stakeholders through its conferences and seminars, closed-door discussions, publications, and surveys on public perceptions of policy. Internship  IPS has only limited openings for internships. The number of interns accepted depends on the specific research requirements in the five clusters of research at the Institute, namely, Arts, Culture and Media Demography and Family Economics and Business Politics and Governance Society and Identity The main duties of the intern if accepted are to provide research assistance and support to research fellows on their areas of research and on specific projects. This includes: literature search, bibliographical compilations and obtaining references and articles from libraries literature review taking notes at meetings administrative and other supporting work, such as managing correspondence, filing, copying, cataloguing of books, etc related to specific research projects and other IPS programmes There will be opportunities to attend conferences, meetings and discussions organised by IPS. Interns can expect to undertake parts of research projects subject to their background and expertise, as well as to acquire some knowledge of certain research areas and skills in undertaking research. They can also gain skills of working and networking in a collegial environment. Interns should be highly motivated individuals with strong sense of initiative. They should be able to serve for at least six weeks. They should indicate the exact period that they will be available to be attached at IPS. They should be familiar with basic computer skills. The regular work week and hours at IPS apply to interns. Applicants who are at least in the second year of undergraduate studies, graduates and postgraduate students are preferred.
