| Synopsis: |
As part of IPS' efforts to track the way future studies is conducted around the world, we are happy to invite you to a Roundtable with one of Europe's experts in this area, Prof Sirkka Heinonen, Professor of Futures Research with Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC) at Turku School of Economics and member of the World Future Society. |
| About the speakers |
Prof Heinonen is currently facilitating a 'backcasting scenario process' for Finland from the year 2050, specifically on climate and energy. (packcasting is where a desired future is envisioned and the necessary steps for attaining that future is then defined.) She will share with us the details of what this process entails and how it can incorporate the opportunity for citizens to comment on the resulting scenarios. She will also talk about a new research project "Creatively Sustainable Communities (CRESCO)", which seeks to develop innovative ways for combating climate change and cultivating energy-efficient communities. |
