The Fourth Singapore Economic Roundtable includes:
-
Recent macroeconomic developments in Singapore, by Edward Robinson, Executive Director, Economic Policy Department, Monetary Authority of Singapore
-
Economic Outlook and Budget, Implications on Monetary Policy, by Dr Timothy Condon, Managing Director and Head of Research, Asia, ING Bank N V
-
Singapore: Asia's Global City? by Sanjeev Sanyal, Director, Global Markets Research, Deutsche Bank AG
The Fourth Singapore Economic Roundtable tackles issues on Singapore's competitiveness, such as
-
new areas of growth and higher levels of competitiveness in some service areas;
-
policy makers assessing fiscal policy solely on whether competitiveness is enhanced;
-
whether Singapore is capable of becoming an Asian global city; and
-
what Singapore can do to improve relations with her neighbours.
One of the questions thrown up by the open discussion at the Roundtable is: what are the consequences of becoming a global city? This fourth Roundtable report will hopefully provide some answers to this and other questions, and promote positive changes in Singapore's fiscal and foreign policies.
