Executive Programme on Leadership in Water Governance
The EP on Leadership in Water Governance involved 20 participants, who are leaders in water sector from 13 countries in Asia.
- The opening ceremony that was opened to the public featured Prof. Tommy Koh as the chair and H.E. Ek Sonn Chan from Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority as the guest speaker. Approximately 60 people attended the ceremony, which included EP participants, LKYSPP faculties, EP resource persons, and the media.
- The EP also included speakers from LKYSPP: Scott Fritzen, Prof. Shreekant Gupta, Prof. Jesuthason Thampapillai, Dr. Eduardo Araral, Dr. Wu Xun,, Dr. T.S. Gopi Rethinaraj and Dr. K.E. Seetharam (Director, IWP); PUB Singapore: CE Khoo Teng Chye, Chan Yoon Kum, Tan Yok Gin; and invited guest speakers: Mr. Tony Aquino from Manila Water Company, Mr. Arthur McIntosh, Dr. Anand Chiplunkar from ADB, and Prof. Toshio Koike from the University of Tokyo, Japan.
- On 28 November 2008, when the programme discussed Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in the water sector, guest participants from private water sector institutions in Singapore were invited to enrich the discussion, including Mr. Lim Wai Sing, Mr. Mickey Ng and Ms. Oh Hoon Hoon from the Asia Infrastructure Project Development and Mr. Yeong Wai Cheong from Konzen Group Companies.
2nd week of the Executive Programme on Leadership in Water Governance:
The EP on Leadership in Water Governance involved 20 participants, who are leaders in water sector from 13 countries in Asia.
- A session by Prof. Toshio Koike on 0 3 December 2008 was open to the public. The session was chaired by Dr. T.S. Gopi Rethinaraj. Over sixty people attended the public lecture (see no. 3. Water Lectures/Seminars)
- Speakers from PUB Singapore are Mr. Chan Yoon Kum, Assistant Chief Executive of PUB and Mr. Tan Yok Gin, Director of Policy and Planning, and Mr. Harry Seah, Director of Technology and Water Quality Office.
- Site visits to Changi Water Reclamation Plant, Woodleigh Waterworks, Ulu Pandan NEWater Plant, and the NEWater Visitor Centre was arranged on the second week by PUB Singapore.
- Closing Dinner was hosted by PUB Singapore at the Marina Barrage, which involved representatives from LKYSPP, IWP, PUB Singapore, and invited guests from various private sector water companies in Singapore.
- Each participant made an individual presentation on the last day of the EP, moderated by Dr. Wu Xun. Dr. Shreekant Gupta also observed the individual presentations in the morning session. The final day was closed by presentation of certificates by Dr. Mary Astrid S. Tuminez, Assistant Dean for Executive Education, LKYSPP.
