Case Studies in Public Policy and Public Administration
The Case Study Unit at the LKY School focuses on developing teaching resources on the real life situations and issues involved in public policy and public administration in Asia.
The case studies cover a wide range of topics and are based on primary data collection as well as research on secondary sources of information such as academic or study papers, committee reports, newspaper reports etc. Though the case studies are all based on real events and situations, in some of the cases, some of the details have been disguised or altered for teaching purposes.
The cases developed by the LKY School are used for teaching in one or more of the various Masters programs (MPP, MPA, MPM, MPAM) at the school as well as for Executive Education programs. Teaching Notes for most of the case studies have been developed to provide a teaching guide for the cases. Some of the case studies developed by the LKY School are listed below. Please contact the Case Study Unit at LKY School to request for the Teaching Notes for a case listed here or for case studies on other areas of public policy.
Case Studies by our Research Centres
Teaching Cases on Water Management (Institute of Water Policy)
In its mission to raise awareness of water security issues, the IWP develops teaching case studies as a part of a comprehensive education and training programme to cultivate the next generation of water leaders. The case studies cover various topics related to water policy and management and are written by experienced case writers, in collaboration with and under the supervision of an LKY School faculty member. These case studies are for teaching purposes only.
Energy Governance Case Studies (Centre on Asia and Globalisation)
The rules overseeing the system by which energy is produced, transported and supplied to end users are fragmented, often contradictory, and frequently corrupted in ways that serve private interests at the expense of the public. The Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG)'s work on energy governance investigates the key actors, institutions and processes at play in energy governance at the global, regional and national levels.
