Where are you from?
Pakistan
What sparked your interest in public policy?
I always believed that the apparent disconnect between political theory and economics in academia has adversely affected our understanding of the modern nation-state and international system. The discipline of public policy not only bridges this gap on a broader theoretical level but also exposes students to the nitty-gritty of public administration.
Why did you choose to pursue a PhD at LKY School?
First of all, LKY School is perhaps the only institute where one gets a distinctive “Asian perspective” on the contemporary global issues. Secondly, it is a best meeting place of people from across the globe particularly China, India and the United States. Finally, the school has excellent faculty and infrastructure and is ranked one of the top institutes of higher education in Asia.
What are your career goals?
I am aiming to serve governments/international organizations as an advisor/consultant on the issues pertinent to energy and regional policies in addition to pursuing my passion for teaching.
